Savor the Taste of Tradition: Homemade Ofada Sauce Delights
Ofada Sauce is a traditional Nigerian sauce that is connected with the country's cuisine. INGREDIENTS FOR THIS RECIPE
- Bleach palm oil
- Assorted meats (beef, cow tripe, cow skin,)
- Dried fish
- Crayfish
- Assorted peppers
- (green scotch bonnet pepper and green bell pepper )
- onions
- locust beans(local spices iru or uziza)
- Ofada rice
- Ofada leaves
PREPARATION STEP
Detail step by step process of make the OFADA SAUCE AND OFADA RICE using all ingredients listed above.
STEP 1
Get all the assorted meat and boil using seasoning (ginger🫚 , garlic 🧄 ,salt, onions , black pepper ).
Get all the assorted pepper and blend it all together.
Boil the eggs 🥚
Wash the locust bean(2 heaped tablespoon)
Get a clean dried fish and crayfish
Get the bleached palm oil
Sliced onions
Meat stocked( 1 cup)
STEP 2
- Start by heating the bleached palm oil 5- 10 min and fry the diced onions until golden brown
- Pour the assorted meat into the palm oil let it fry for 5 mins and then take it of the oil
- Pour the locust bean (iru) to fry for a minute
- Add the blended pepper and let it cook
- Add the dried fish and crayfish
- Add the boiled eggs
- Add seasoning and meat stock
- Last step add the fried assorted meat
Let the stew fry for about 15min at this time, the oil will float to the and it is done
OFADA RICE ; Step to cook ofada rice
- Pick the stones and dirt from the rice,do this carefully because ofada rice is known to be full of stones
- Pour the rice into a bowl and wash the ofada rice still the water is clean
- pour the washed rice to a boiling water and allow it cook on a low to medium heat for 12 minutes
- Take the rice off the heat and rinse the starch out
- Add water and cook till. You will need to check often to prevent it from burning but you can add a little drop of oil
ENJOY WITH THE OFADA SAUCE
Ofada sauce and Ofada rice can be paired with plantain and a chill drink .
